I feel like I start every DA letter this way, but VERY, very sorry this has taken me so long to post. I'm the worst, etc. Please don't think my prompts are the worst.
In general, here are some things I am very into: fake dating, friends-to-lovers, social media usage in fic (be it FB, Tinder, meeting online, whatever), AUs (they don't have to play hockey!), pining, accidentally married, "oops you're my best friend but apparently I also want to bone you and also I love you," long-distance relationships, any sort of phone/text sex, families being written into the story, kidfic, resolved angst, soulmate AUs, etc.
Things I am NOT really into: A/B/O, fantasy/supernatural stories, animal transformation, rape/noncon, excessive recreational drug use.
Specific prompts: (I'm sorry they aren't THAT specific!)
1. Tom Wilson/Michael Latta: Seriously, these two are my ship to end all ships. They're the ship that sails itself. I will read anything about these two. If you're into listening to music while you write, the song Strip It Down by Luke Bryan is my SONG for them. It's just a sexy song, and always makes me think of them. If you want to write me an AU where these two meet in college and hate each other and then fall in love, go for it. I'll read about them going on vacation together (which they've done so wonderfully!) or going to concerts (which they do, like, every week), or just sitting on the couch watching TV. "Oops didn't realize we were dating" is a great trop for them.
2. Brandon Saad/Ben Smith: I'm really, really into AUs for these two. Ben Smith: kindergarten teacher is my favorite thing in the world, not going to lie. If you don't want to go down the kidfic route, any AU will do! I'll read a college/university AU, or a coffeeshop AU. With these two, if you want to include other Hawks/Rockford guys, the more the merrier. I love them all (just please no Kane.)
3. Nick Leddy/Brandon Saad: These two are pretty similar to Ben and Brandon, to me. I just love, love love their friendship. If you want to tell me about them slowly realizing they're falling for each other in Chicago and then getting split up by the trades, I'm all for it. Long distance relationship works wonderfully for them. Social media fic or epistolary fic is great, too. Hawks/Rockford guys are awesome here too, especially since they all seemed so close.
4. Paul Martin/Ben Smith: This is becoming a theme, but I will be happy with anything you write me about these two. We really don't ever get any interaction between them, but in my head it's all wonderful and nerdy and full of history references and, like, Game of Thrones references. If you want to tell me about Paul being the professor to Ben's TA and that crazy relationship, or, go super domestic and tell me the story of Paul crashing on Ben's couch when he gets traded to the Sharks and then just kind of... staying... I'd be all for it.
I'm sorry these aren't super detailed, but like I said, I'll be happy with anything you want to write me about any of these pairings! If you want more specifics, or you have any questions, feel free to reach out on Tumblr or ask one of my friends - alotofthingsdifferent in particular knows my heart's truest desires for all things Willy/Latts etc.

First of all, sorry it's taken me so long to update this letter! I am the worst, etc. etc. BUT, regardless of that, thank you so much for matching with me on at least one of these hockey players - they all mean a lot to me and I will gladly - gladly! - read anything you write me about any one of them. I'm perfectly fine if you want to keep the story gen, or if you feel like including or making the story about a specific pairing, I'll include some options.
In general, I'm very much into: pining, friends-to-lovers, accidentally married, FAKE DATING!!! will always be my favorite, almost any real world AU, unrequited love becomes very much requited, etc. I love character studies, too, so if you want to write me 500 words on Ben Smith's feelings about being traded to the Sharks, go for it.
Things I'm not into: rape/non-con, unresolved angst, fantasy/supernatural AU, A/B/O.
Other than that, I'm very easy to please.
Specific Characters:
1. Ben Smith: Ben Smith is just... he means a lot to me. He's musically inclined! He's close to his family! He has a jawline that could cut steel! He reads to kindergarteners! I will read anything about him, honestly. Tell me how he's adjusting to live in SJ, tell me how he's slowly falling in love with his teammate, Paul Martin, tell me how he misses his Rockford guys. (Suggested pairing: Smith/Paul Martin, Smith/Brandon Saad)
2. Brandon Saad: Basically anything I said above about Ben applies to Brandon. If you want to go gen, tell me how he felt being traded away from his Chicago guys. Tell me if he keeps in touch with anyone and if so, how often and does it still hurt? Is he new-BFFs with Nick Foligno? These are the things I think about. (Suggest pairing: Saad/Ben Smith, Saad/Nick Leddy)
3. Paul Martin: Paul Martin is the kind of guy I want to come home to at night. I want him to cook me dinner while we listen to NPR and argue over whose turn it is to fold the laundry. I'll read anything you write about him. If you want to go gen, what was his college life like? What would his life be like if he was a professor? (Suggested pairing: Martin/Ben Smith, Martin/James Neal friendship)
4. Claude Giroux: Claude is the person on this list I resisted loving for the longest time. He's pretty charming, though, and I couldn't resist forever. If you matched on Claude, I hope you're okay with shipping him with Danny Briere, because that's all I really know. I'll be happy with anything you write me about him - what's your Claude headcanon? What would he be doing if he wasn't playing hockey? (Suggest pairing: Claude/Danny Briere)
5. Danny Briere: I'll read anything about him. Anything. If you want to tell me how he balanced raising kids and playing hockey, do it. If you want to tell me how he slowly realized he and Claude were making their own version of a family, do it. If you want to explore his feelings post-retirement, I'll cry, but I'll read it. (Suggest pairing: Briere/Claude Giroux.)

I'm not going to go into detail here because this is meant to be a happy post, but I think we're all aware that hockey fandom has been a sad place recently. Fandom is my happy place, and so many of you are such an important part of that for me - it'd be great if we could all have a little bit of cheer right now.
So, with that in mind --
Welcome to the Let's Cheer Up Fandom: Secret Santa (or, as I have come to refer to it: St. Nicholas Foligno) Exchange: Hockey Fandom Edition!
It'll work very closely to how you've (likely) experienced other Secret Santa exchanges - just, you know, online, and in autumn. I'm going to be using Elfster to randomly pair you up with your Secret Santa. You can create wish lists - or just add gift ideas/things you like - that your Secret Santa can view.
A few guidelines:
1. I want this to be as stress-free as possible. We all have lives, and asking you to go out and spend money and time picking something out for someone is asking a lot. That being said, there will be a $15 spending limit on gifts. You do not have to spend the entire amount! Your gift doesn't even have to be something you purchased from a store! Do you craft or draw or do any other amazing form of artwork? That is PERFECT. We're on the honor system here, but please be respectful of the limit. We all know we love each other - we don't have to financially prove it.
(Please watch the season 2 Christmas episode of The Office as both a very good and very bad example of how Secret Santa should work. BE THE JIM'S AND PHYLLIS'S OF HOCKEY FANDOM, Y'ALL. Don't be a Michael Scott.)
2. You must be willing to provide your address to a STRANGER FROM THE INTERNET (sorry, I turned into my mother for a second). I feel like this should be obvious, as snail-mail only works one way.
3. If for some reason something comes up, and you cannot or do not want to participate in the exchange after the Secret Santa names have been (virtually) drawn, please let me know as soon as possible. We don't want anyone to be left out.
4. The time frame on this is pretty fluid. Once sign-ups close and names get drawn, if you find the perfect gift for your giftee right away - send it to them! If you're making something or you just can't find that right thing, you have time! Ideally, I'd love for everyone to have received their Secret Santa gift by the start of pre-season (so, the first week of October.)

Once everyone has signed up, I'll send out an Elfster invite no later than Friday, August 21st to create an account (it's free, of course) - and then the fun begins!
Again, the actual gift delivery is up to you - as long as your giftee has a gift on its way to them by October 7th (the first preseason game date), you'll be good!
